Day 38: My recovery position... in bed

Spending three days in Riga, getting up early to film the jazz festival and going to bed quite late after nearly 12 hour shifts a day really took it out of me! It was so good to be back in my own bed and sleeping for however long I want last night...

Sleep is the best cure for everything.

The first day of the festival was great, becoming accustomed to jazz music and seeing more of the wonderful city. The second day was even better, getting jazzed and tangoed at the same time! And finally the third day: the best out of all three. The weather, the artists and the drinks. I have discovered a new love for jazz.

Right on, brother!

Yesterday was the first day since being in Latvia that I didn't turn on my laptop. As expected, the emails were piled up high. After deleting most of them, there was one from the French university asking me to register online with personal details and important documents. Luckily, I scanned my passport and birth certificate before I left to come to Latvia. Organisation has finally paid off!

If I can't have paper post-it notes, I'll have virtual ones instead!

To continue my recovery, I decided to watch the film Up. The chuckles I got from the adventures of the old man and the hilarious Chinese-looking boy (strange) really was the best motivation to actually get UP and, erm, I don't know, perhaps buy some food to fill the bare fridge. I had to eat everything that would have expired before I left for Riga so some stocking up was necessary.

After spending a ridiculous amount of money on food, I came home to find out that one of the potential housemates has decided to live with other people in the house we wanted. Rather than panicking, crying or screaming, I emailed the same landlord to see if he had any other available apartments. The three of us now have a choice of two apartments with the same rent and deposit prices. A house on a quiet street surrounded by nature with a swimming pool or a house with a terrace that overlooks the Mediterranean Sea. Both sound tempting, but nothing beats living a 5 minute walk away from the beach!

Living on the beach is even better!

My aims for this week are to 1) start filming for our next project, 2) decide on a house, 3) book my flights and last but certainly not least 4) start thinking about plans for my birthday in August!

Now for a quote from a very, very wise man:

"Human beings are inherently endowed with the power to bring out the best possible results from the worst possible circumstances" - Daisaku Ikeda
