Over this next week, me and my filming partner have to film a management simulation game held in the university consisting of students from different European countries including Estonia, Bulgaria, Netherlands, Lithuania and of course Latvia. And as well as filming it, we get to take part as well. One of the tasks I took part in was a city orientation competition, having to find the location pictured in photos of Valmiera that we were given and take "fun and creative photos" as a team - which meant we had to ask locals to take the photos. Thankfully, each team had a Latvian student so as to not get lost and end up out of the country.

After the tour, I should theoretically know Valmiera like the back of my hand... time will tell I suppose. I did take some lovely photos on the way, even though I'll probably see these places 100 times before I leave for the UK in August.
Exhibit A... |
In the evening we had a traditional Latvian dinner and an "International Food Party" where each country presented their traditional foods for us all to try. I actually listed down what I ate because I am rather proud of myself!
Estonia: Bread, chocolate, raw fish on bread and liquor (in a shot glass)
Netherlands: Toast toppings, liquorice and biscuits (translated into long fingers)
Lithuania: White cheese
Bulgaria: Sausage, white cheese and yellow cheese.
My Latvian cuisine - and then a bit of famous Latvian beer |
After the party, someone asks me what I would have brought from England if I had the chance to. I said fish and chips...
Tomorrow I will be going to the local brewery that makes Latvian beer, so keep reading to see how that goes!
